A workshop by Geovani Cruz , Elena Coronado Ortiz , Angie Garcia Ramos and Christian Erazo Artica
About this Workshop
Join us for an engaging session focused on creating a strong community within the first-year experience. Get ready to uncover the essential components of the Bridge to Liberal Arts Success at Tufts (BLAST) hosted by the FIRST Resource Center at Tufts University.
During the session, you will have the opportunity to delve into case studies and examples of staff-led workshops and their outcomes, learn about the resources the FIRST Center provides, gain insights from a student panel, and receive a comprehensive guide to nurturing a supportive cohort and first-year experience. This interactive session will help you discover how BLAST effectively addresses the unique challenges faced by first-generation students during their transition from high school to the summer and into their first semester.
By exploring how creating and acknowledging students' definition of first-gen identity contributes to a welcoming space, we hope you can learn from our takeaways and implement similar programs at your institutions.
