The Power of Saying No (Frost 220)
A workshop by Silvonna Silvestre , Oshane Hines and Abigail Mason
About this Workshop
Every day we are making choices and every day we are trying to fit into norms. Sometimes in doing so we forget our values, or other things that make us who we are. It is important to have the self-awareness to know when to say no, or not now. We will talk in this session about how we learned to fill our cups first, before we serve others. We are not perfect, and we are still learning to set boundaries, but we will talk about how to make putting yourself first a consistent exercise. Each of the presenters will share their personal experiences with taking on too much, practicing the art of saying no, and how it has improved their college experiences, and lives outside of college. The audience will have an opportunity to speak in their own small groups about their experiences with feeling overwhelmed and saying no (or why it's hard for them to do that!).
